CranioSacral Therapy

CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on, whole-body method of releasing restrictions around the brain and spinal cord to enhance central nervous system performance and allow the body to selfcorrect.
It was developed by osteopathic physician John E. Upledger after eight years of clinical research and testing at Michigan State University. The Upledger Institute, established in 1985, has now trained more than 80,000 CranioSacral Therapists worldwide.
CranioSacral Therapy strengthens the body’s natural healing processes to bolster resistance to disease and improve overall health. It has also proven effective in aiding individuals with a wide range of medical challenges associated with pain and dysfunction, including but not limited to:
~ Migraines ~Neck and Back Pain ~Fibromyalgia ~Chronic Fatigue ~TMJ Syndrome ~Motor-Coordination Impairments ~ Autism ~Central Nervous System Disorders ~Colic ~Scoliosis ~Learning Disabilities ~Brain and Spinal Cord Injuries ~ Emotional Difficulties ~Stress-Related Problems ~Neurovascular or Immune Disorders ~Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder ~ Post-Surgical Dysfunction ~And Many Other Conditions

Somato-Emotional Release

SER is a therapeutic process that uses and expands on the principles of CranioSacral Therapy to help rid the mind and body of the residual effects of trauma. SERI offers applications designed to enhance results using CST and other complementary therapies. Release suppressed emotions that may be inhibiting complete structural releases.
Like an iceberg, we may be storing emotions below the surface. Sometimes during a treatment emotions will surface. Tissues have memory and store emotions so in a treatment setting it is a goal to release these in order for optimal healing to occur and for the trauma to be released.
This may be as simple as a tear running down the face to a sobbing depending on the experience and the comfort level of the client. Dialogue is used, in a neutral, non-judgmental manner, to resolve any issues that may arise. However it is expressed it is welcome and an opportunity for healing. We honour where you are in your process.

The Brain Curriculum

Uses a slightly different paradigm by working extensively with the brain cells rather than mainly on cranial bones and membranes.
Practitioners address very specific structures and physiology of the brain and spinal cord. The body often aligns itself around these precise structures and they are frequently unaddressed key/primary tissue restrictions. This work requires perceptual skills to address brain and body tissue microstructures.
These structures are repeatedly one of the most important and yet least often addressed components of somatic dysfunctions.
For that reason, these techniques can probably help most people, but it will specifically help:
~any brain and spinal related pathologies including closed head injury ~whiplash ~headaches ~dyslexia ~cerebral palsy ~cognitive behavioral dysfunctions ~learning disabilities ~ADD/ADHD ~post-meningitis syndrome ~post-polio syndromes ~birth difficulties or trauma ~feeding difficulties, etc.
"I know that the normal brain lives, thinks, and moves within its own specific membranous articular mechanism."
